This video is big on looks but is obviously designed to play to the gullible that think Carradine is the character he played on TV (some 30 years ago!) He was a dancer, not a martial artist and this shows. Some of the dancers in the background cant even keep together, making this video really a joke. Some gratuitous plugs for his other videos are here this masquerading as instruction. Save your money !

The workout is wonderful, and the instructions are very good. I found it very easy to follow the excerizes. I did find it somewhat disappointing in the end, however. While the music is beautiful, it reminded me of what you would find in an elevator. I was hoping for more traditional music in the program. The choice of class members in the background was also somewhat disappointing. Some of them seemed to be only there to push air around and did not seem to have grasped the concept of moving chi energy. I have not watched it since the first time.

  3. This special video is a great physical workout for people of all ages. It is a beautiful form of low stress exercise that requires no equipment, and can be done anywhere. I have even done it in an airport before boarding a long flight.

  4. Those who have reviewed this DVD poorly are totally missing the point: David Carradine’s T’ai Chi Workouts for Beginners is the most totally gnarly and awesome fusion of Kung Fu, Miami Vice, and Star Trek, and should be viewed as such. An eighties gem, it encapsulates a time that, sadly, is no more. Bring on the rainbow-coloured spandex!! And David’s songs… well, what can I say?

David Carradine and the other Instructors made during these exercise fun. The step-by-step instructions were easy to follow and you really do get a peaceful feeling after during the exercise.
