My doctor suggested I try Tai-chi for balance. I guess, as we age, our balance could be compromised. Due to a heavy work load, I could not join a class. This was the next best thing. So far, I am very pleased with the dvd and would encourage others to purchase this product.

Review by Producer. This video includes warm-up and flexibility exercises, Chi-Gung (to increase the flow of life energy), Tai-chi exercises and a fourteen movement Tai-chi Yang short form. Careful instructions are given with many camera angles for ease in learning. Many exercises are shown from a seated position as well. There are five separate sections of exercise and each can be done separately, if desired. The menu contains many chapters to bring you to each exercise within each section.
Tai-chi, chi-gung and the other exercises in this video are designed to strengthen the body and internal organs to keep the body functioning with full vitality throughout life.

I found this video very slow. I would rate myself below average on the mobility chart(a 4 on a scale of 1-10). For me this video was to slow paced. The content was good but just didn’t have the challenge needed to keep me motivated. The instructor although very informative was also lacking any motivational skills. It seemed to me that he was very uncomfortable in front of a camera. I used this DVD a few times and opted to return to a beginners tape which was more interesting and more challenging.

This is a very helpful program for seniors interested in learning Tai-chi. First, it provides flexibility and warm-up exercises to prepare the body. Next there are chi-gung exercises to improve the flow of energy through the body. Next the Tai-chi movements are presented one at a time, as exercises so that you can get used to each movement. The basic principles of movement, proper breathing etc. are carefully explained. The last section is a short Tai-chi form, linking the movements that you just learned. I believe it is a great approach to teach Tai-chi. The video quality is also very clear.

This is a great general exercises program for seniors, beginning with warm ups and stretching and continuing to chi-gung exercises and using Tai-chi movements as exercises. A fourteen movement form is shown, using the movements previously used as exercises. The form is shown from the front and again from the rear. This is a good introduction to Tai-chi and provides a well rounded exercise program. The DVD is manufactured by the “burned” system which 95% of DVD players play. Some of the players manufactured several years ago, which only play movie type DVD’s, have trouble with the burned variety. If your player plays DVD-R, it will play this DVD.
