I just purchased this unit from Amazon. The hardware is of excellent quality. The frame members all very robust.I did have alignment problems with frame bolt holes.
I pulled it into alignment with a block of wood and a large c clamp. One person can assemble the unit if you do a little planning. The assembly manual was very good compared to most products these days. The unit is very quiet and smooth.
Now the operations manual is another story. It is just about useless. Why would an old line USA company put its name on crap? I want to use the built in programs.
I managed to get them up once and I am not sure how I did that. The finest equipment in the world is useless without a GOOD manual. Also I did not see a parts list. Someday something WILL need to be replaced.
I am not surprised at all. Its become common place to get products that are substandard in some way.

Good Elliptical, but where is the water bottle holder? And where can I find it?

Like others, I was skeptical about purchasing this Schwinn model when the older one had so many great reviews. It was shipped within one week. The delivery company called and arranged the date of delivery. Only bad thing with the delivery is I asked for an “early” delivery (9am-5pm)and received a call at 5pm to say they were minutes away. It was a Saturday delivery so i am sure i wasn’t the only one with that request. The item was very well packed. It took me about 2.5 hours to put it together by myself but i would recommend help. The machine is surprisingly quite. I can work out with the TV or radio on at normal levels. The workout is smooth and the given programs really give you a good workout. The heart rate monitor is useless if you occasionally want to check your HR, as it takes 1-2 minutes for it to give you the accurate reading. Overall i am very satisfied with this product. I am positive in due time this model will receive just as many great reviews as the older one.

bought this over a month ago. as of today I have never even used it.. does not work no idea what is wrong with it nor does Schwinn. Now waiting for another part they are sending..
well got the 2nd part.. still nothing.. However I had someone from where I work check it out for me..Seems the mfg never connected the inside wires.. so after taking it apart and all this time later..I am finally able to use the machine..

I am an “over 70″ diabetic who needs to exercise daily-the Schwinn 420 is a great buy for an entry level machine and beyond – I don’t think I’d have to up-grade at all – I also have a Schwinn Recumbent Stationary Bike, so between the two machines plus a daily regimen of good food, my diabetes is under control, and, I’ve made my doctor happy as well !!!
